Description
This course is designed for adult learners who require additional support in developing their English language skills. It provides a gentle, inclusive introduction to English through practical, engaging activities that build confidence in reading, writing, speaking and listening. This course is ideal for learners with learning difficulties, disabilities, or those who are new to formal education.
What will I learn on this course?
• Speaking and listening- communicate in everyday situations, express ideas, follow instruction and engage in group discussions
• Reading- recognise common words, write short sentences and use basic punctuation
• Language awareness- explore vocabulary, grammar and sentence structured through supported activities
• Confidence building- develop self-expression and social interaction skills in a safe inclusive environment.
Is this course suitable for me?
You need to be 19 years and over and have no GCSE 4/C or equivalent qualifications in English.
Before you begin your studies, an initial assessment will take place in order to help us to place you on the most suitable course.

Attendance Policy
In order to get the most out of your course, you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know and so they can send you any work you may have missed
How are digital skills used and enhanced on this course
You may need to use the internet for some of your course- using a tablet, laptop or computer. The tutor will speak to you about useful websites, apps and online resources which you may be asked to use for homework.
