Course Information Sheet

Description

Title: The Art of Seasons
Journey through the changing seasons as seen through the eyes of artists across cultures and centuries. In this relaxing and reflective course, we will explore how nature's rhythms (autumn, winter, spring, and summer) have inspired visual art from Japanese ink painting to European landscape traditions. Each session begins with a seasonal poem to set the tone, and includes discussion of artworks, symbolism, and creative responses.
You will be gently introduced to the mindful art of sumi-e (Japanese ink painting), using brush and ink to express the mood and energy of each season. Through slow, focused mark-making and observational drawing, you will create simple yet expressive seasonal artworks. No previous experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore art, art history and art practice.
