What Will I Learn On This Course?
Learners will: 1. Develop 3D working skills. 2. Develop drawing and painting (2D) skills to create at least one piece of work. 3. Develop and produce one complete project. All learners will be expected to maintain both a sketchbook of their ideas and inspirations and a portfolio of their work produced while on course. EXHIBITION OPPORTUNITIES: There are opportunities to exhibit your work throughout the year at both our Rochester Centre and other local venues. Whether you would like to learn new creative skills or to investigate the possibility of a new art-based career, MAE Community Learning courses can provide you with a stepping stone to progress

Is This Course Suitable For Me?
This course in an excellent starting point for beginners who want to explore creativity or those with more experience that would like to try new/modern approaches and improve creativity. As well as improving art skills you will be encouraged to practise using sketchbook and undertake research to increase your knowledge and skills.

Is There Anything Else I Need To Know About This Course?
Please be aware that whilst this course is practical in nature some sessions will include theory and professional related training such as H&S, risk assessments, public liability etc Learners will need the following tools and equipment please do not purchase until you are sure the course will run: You will need to prepare the following tools and equipment before the start of the course: PLEASE BRING TO THE FIRST SESSION: • Basic drawing equipment of your own choice (at least one HB pencil & a rubber) You will need to provide your own materials for most activities, though easels and drawing boards will be provided at no additional cost. Various types of paper can be purchased from the tutor (subject to availability) for a minimal fee. If you don’t have any of the materials listed above, wait until you have spoken to the tutor before making purchases as the project will be discussed in the first lesson.

Will There Be Additional Costs?
You will be provided with a basic sketch book. You tutor can guide you on materials and tools as the course progresses.

What Could I Go On To Do After This Course?
This is an Art Specialism course level 2B, upon completing this course, learners can progress onto Level 2C but cannot redo this course at the same level or book onto lower level courses or go back to Drawing & Painting courses. Learners can book onto any other Art specialism or Creative & Culture courses from 1A upwards. Your tutor can talk to you about other subject related course available. You may also wish to explore our accredited BTEC Level 2 Art and Design Skills course. Medway Adult Education works with many partners locally such as MidKent College, Medway School of Arts and the University of Kent; information about their courses can be found in our studios, café and on Moodle. Medway has an exciting and wide-range of events, exhibitions and activities to inspire and help you make further progress - please see the community noticeboards in the Rochester Centre and again on Moodle. What Is The Attendance Policy?
Multiple sessions- To get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed
