Description

Whether you would like to learn new creative skills or to look into the possibility of a new art-based career, MAE Community Learning courses can provide you with a stepping stone to progress.
Learn the basics of painting & drawing abstracted images in a variety of media. Your expert tutor will guide you through the exciting process of still life drawing and how to use these produce unique abstract pieces. The course will include an art history element through discussion and analysis of the works of 20th Century abstract artists (from Picasso to Peter Doig).

Please do not buy tools and equipment until you know that the course will run.
  

What will I learn on this course?
Learners will: 1. Produce at least 1 still life piece that will form the basis of your abstract work 2. Produce at least 1 abstracted drawing. 3. Produce at least 1 final abstract drawing or painting. HOW ARE IT/DIGITAL SKILLS USED AND ENHANCED ON THIS COURSE? Learners will be encouraged to research personal project ideas through museums and gallery visits. Various handouts will be provided on techniques and sources of inspiration,

Is this course suitable for me?
This is a mixed ability course beginners to those with some experience of painting and drawing.

Will there be additional costs?
Please bring the following equipment to your first class: Pen and masking tape (you will be provided with material for your first session. Your tutor will advise what you need to buy for ongoing sessions. Please do not buy any equipment until you know that your course will run.

Attendance Policy
In order to get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed
