Description
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Learn how maintain and repair basic plumbing for winter.
Have a better understanding of how to deal with simple plumbing problems around the home with this new DIY course.
You will look at the workings of the plumbing systems in your home to be able to tackle basic plumbing issues with a focus on taps and sinks in this first course.
If you are aged 19 and over and do not have Maths at level 2 or equivalent, you can access free numeracy courses through Multiply to build your confidence with numbers and learn a new skill in our professional studios.
What will I learn on this course?
Learners will:
• Calculate the cost of materials used in the lagging of an outside tap
• Use basic maths to determine how much tape to use to repair a leak
• Calculate the total cost basic tools required in the tool kit.

This course in an excellent starting point for beginners who want to explore basic plumbing DIY skills
Is there anything I need to know about the course?
Please bring your own apron/ overall and pen and notebook.
Will there be additional costs?
You will need your own basic tools, your tutor will discuss this during the first session and explain which tools you will require.

Attendance Policy
In order to get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed
How are digital skills used and enhanced on this course
Learners can also do their own research using the internet / google to explore recipes outside of class time.

By participating in a practical class, you accept that you understand that DIY involves potentially hazardous tools and equipment and that such activity carries the risk of injury. You understand that it is your responsibility to judge your motor skills and physical ability.
It is your responsibility to ensure that by participating in classes and activities from Medway Adult Education, you will not exceed your limits while performing such activity, and you will select the appropriate level of task for your skills and abilities.
