Description

This is a level 1A art specialism course.

This friendly and creative course will show you how to design and paint festive artwork on windows using paint pens. You will learn simple techniques to create eye-catching seasonal decorations such as snowflakes, lettering, and seasonal scenes.

You will be guided step-by-step through each stage, from planning your design to completing your own window display. By the end of the course, you will have the skills and confidence to decorate windows at home, in your community, or even for small business displays.

This is an Art specialism, upon completing this course, learners can progress onto level 2B but cannot redo this course at the same level or book onto drawing & painting levelled courses. Learners can book onto any other Art specialism from 1A or Creative & Culture course from 1A if they are new to that area with Medway Adult education.

WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THIS COURSE?
Learners will: 1. Plan and sketch at least 1 simple festive window design 2. Apply basic techniques such as outlining, filling, and layering on at least 1 sample 3. Use paint pens safely and effectively to produce at least 1 window display design Whether you would like to learn new creative skills or to investigate the possibility of a new art-based career, MAE Community Learning courses can provide you with a stepping stone to progress

IS THIS COURSE SUITABLE FOR ME?
This course is aimed at: • Beginners and those with art & design experience This is a level 1A Art specialism, upon completing this course, learners can progress onto level 2B but cannot redo this course at the same level or book onto drawing & painting levelled courses. Learners can book onto any other Art specialism from 1A or Creative & Culture course from 1A if they are new to that area with Medway Adult education.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS COURSE?
This course is mainly practical, but some sessions will include important theory and professional topics. These may include: • Health and Safety (H&S) • Risk assessments • Public liability

WILL THERE BE ADDITIONAL COSTS?
Learners will need the following tools and equipment please do not purchase until you are sure the course will run You will be provided with an A4 sized sketch book You will need to bring the following items to the first session: • HB pencil, sharpener and erase • Biro You will need to purchase a set of pens as the course progresses but your tutor will advise you as the course progresses

WHAT COULD I GO ON TO DO AFTER THIS COURSE?
Your tutor can talk to you about other subject related course available. Upon completing this course, learners cannot redo this course at the same level or book onto lower-level Drawing & Painting courses. Learners can book onto: • A different funded art specialism course from level 1A • Any other creative and Culture course that is new to them with us at Medway Adult Education from level 1A • A course from our non-funded programme. • BTEC level 2 Art & Design Medway Adult Education works with many partners locally such as MidKent College, Medway School of Arts and the University of Kent; information about their courses can be found in our studios, café and on Moodle.
