Description
This creative provision is being marketed as RICA (Rochester Institute of Creative Arts).
RICA is the name of the new creative offer from Medway Adult Education. This beginner-friendly pattern drafting overlocker course is designed for learners who have completed a Level 2C courses as well as those new to sewing.
Learners be introduced to the overlocker, will draft a pattern, cut the fabric and use stretch jersey fabrics to create an item sewn exclusively with the overlocker.
No experience necessary. Your tutor will guide you step by step through the process of designing your top, cutting your pattern, and then making the top. Overlocker instruction will be given where required.

WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THIS COURSE?
Learners will:
1. Learn how to measure correctly and accurately
2. Use division to use and transfer those measurements correctly onto paper
3. Use addition to add the correct seam allowances where required

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS COURSE?
Learners will need the following tools and equipment please do not purchase until you are sure the course will run:
You will need to prepare the following tools and equipment before the start of the course:
• A basic sewing kit including dressmaking scissors, un-picker, tape measure, notebook, small scissors or snips, some sewing threads etc.
• Pen, pencil and notebook
• You WILL need some scraps of fabric to practice techniques on, and it is always a good idea to have an old (CLEAN) sheet or duvet cover to use as practice fabric when we come to make a toile.
WILL THERE BE ADDITIONAL COSTS?
You may need to buy fabric, please do not do so until you have spoken to your tutor in week 1.
