Description
This is a level 2C course for those who have attended life drawing previously or who have drawing and painting experience.
The life figure drawing and painting course offers a comprehensive introduction to essential drawing techniques, emphasising the accurate representation of human anatomy, proportion, and likeness. Students will explore key concepts such as composition, negative and positive space, and the effective use of props, all of which contribute to capturing the unique character and personality of the model. This hands-on approach fosters both skill development and artistic expression.
This is an Art specialism, upon completing this course, learners can progress onto our non-funded programme but cannot book onto a lower level Life drawing or Drawing & painting class.
Learners can book onto any other Art specialism or Creative & Culture course from 1A if it is new to them with Medway Adult Education.

WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THIS COURSE?
Learners will:
1. Use at least one measuring technique when drawing to represent angle accurately.
2. To use observational skills and structure to create at least one image of accurate proportions
3. Create at least 2 works using different media to develop individual style of life drawing

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS COURSE?
This course is mainly practical, but some sessions will include important theory and professional topics. These may include:
• Health and Safety (H&S)
• Risk assessments
• Public liability
WILL THERE BE ADDITIONAL COSTS?
Learners will need the following tools and equipment please do not purchase until you are sure the course will run
• Basic drawing equipment - at least one HB pencil, sharpener and rubber
• Masking tape
• A sketchbook will be provided but large paper will need to be purchased in the classroom from your tutor for a small fee
• Some examples of your drawings and painting if you have any, so that the tutor can assess your skill level.
Assessment will play a regular role in your tuition, both initially to set you on the right learning path, and continually during the course to help you achieve personal goals and standards.
