Description
Learn to plan, design and create jewellery using beads and wire. You will follow a design plan for basic projects, using basic maths skills to determine quantity, size, length and ratio.
All resources will be supplied free of charge.
If you are aged 19 and over and do not have Maths at level 2 or equivalent, you can access free numeracy courses through Multiply to build your confidence with numbers and learn a new skill in our professional studios.
What will I learn on this course?
Calculate the quantity of beads needed to create bracelets of different lengths
Demonstrate an understanding of ratio and how to work with ratio, proportion and percentages
Calculate the circumference of a circle using Pi to work out the amount of wire needed to make a ring and a bangle
Is this course suitable for me?
This course in an excellent starting point for beginners who want to explore basic metalworking and metal smithing skills or for those with a little experience who want to revisit skills.
Is there anything I need to know about the course?
Please bring your own apron/ overall.
If you have a pair of safety glasses, please bring them along. There will be some pairs available in the studio.
You will need to follow the rules of the Jewellery studio studio to maintain Health & Safety procedures and to keep yourself and others safe.

Attendance Policy
In order to get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed.

Learners can also do their own research using the internet / google to explore recipes outside of class time.

It is your responsibility to ensure that by participating in classes and activities from Medway Adult Education, you will not exceed your limits while performing such activity, and you will select the appropriate level of task for your skills and abilities.
