Description

This is a level 2A course for those who have attended Abstract Art previously or who have some drawing and painting experience.

Join us of this abstract art painting course focusing on the local landmarks of Medway. This course is aimed at beginners or those with some prior drawing and painting experience, you need not have attended the previous abstract courses but returning learners will find new inspirations and techniques to further progress their skills. Each week you will explore materials. Techniques and inspirations, guided by a highly experienced tutor. The course will allow you to explore different abstraction styles and notable artists whilst using your local area as in inspiration. Through hands-on practice and assessment, learners will develop their skills, fostering both individual creativity and a deeper understanding of abstract art and painting.

This is an Art specialism, upon completing this course, learners can progress onto Level 2B but cannot redo this course or a drawing & painting course at the same or lower level. Learners can book onto any other Art specialism from 1A or Creative & Culture course from 1A if they are new to the area with Medway Adult Education.

WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THIS COURSE?
1. Explore and use at least 3 different drawing skills incorporating different techniques (light, shade, 2D to 3D, perspective, still life etc.) 2. Explore and experiment with at least 3 abstraction techniques 3. Plan, develop and complete at least 1 finished abstract piece inspired by a local landmark Whether you would like to learn new creative skills or to investigate the possibility of a new art-based career, MAE Community Learning courses can provide you with a stepping stone to progress

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS COURSE?
This course is mainly practical, but some sessions will include important theory and professional topics. These may include: • Health and Safety (H&S) • Risk assessments • Public liability

WILL THERE BE ADDITIONAL COSTS?
Learners will need the following tools and equipment please do not purchase until you are sure the course will run: Please bring the following equipment to your first class: • Pen • HB / 2B drawing pencil, sharpener and eraser • Roll of masking tape (you will be provided with an A4 sketchbook and materials for your first session). Your tutor will advise what you need to buy for ongoing sessions. Please do not buy any equipment until you know that your course will run
