Stained Glass 2 Rochester Institute of Creative Arts (RICA)
This creative provision is being marketed as RICA (Rochester Institute of Creative Arts).
This taught stained-glass course is designed for learners who have completed a Level 2C course in stained glass and wish to further develop their skills, confidence, and personal style whilst still learning within a structured art environment. While it builds on prior Level 2C study, new learners are welcome to join at their own discretion.
This stained-glass course is taught by a professional tutor; the course provides tuition and guidance alongside opportunities for creative exploration and project-based learning in a supportive environment. Your tutor will discuss personal goals and project ideas with you in your first session.
Please note that this is not a drop-in course or an informal club; regular attendance and commitment to the course are expected to support progression.

WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THIS COURSE?
By the end of the course, learners will: 1. Follow safe and collaborative H&S studio practice - Learners will demonstrate awareness of ground rules and health and safety requirements by working responsibly in the creative environment and supporting a respectful, inclusive learning space. 2. Engage in feedback and collaborative learning - Learners will participate in group discussions and peer feedback, responding constructively to others’ work and using feedback to improve their own creative outcomes. 3. Develop and apply subject specific skills - Learners will actively engage with tutor demonstrations and formative feedback to develop and apply stained-glass productions skills in at least two areas (design, cutting, shaping, soldering, leading etc.) showing progression in their creative practice.

IS THIS COURSE SUITABLE FOR ME?
While it builds on prior Level 2C study, new learners who feel ready to work at this level are welcome to join at their own discretion.

WILL THERE BE ADDITIONAL COSTS?
Learners will need the following tools and equipment please do not purchase until you are sure the course will run: You will need to prepare the following tools and for the first session: • HB/2B pencil and sharpener • Eraser • Notebook • The first lesson is glass cutting please bring a 20cm (12”) square of clear glass, 3mm thick. Your tutor will speak to you about materials and tools in the first class. You will be required to purchase your own glass and lead etc. Materials for the first project cost approximately £25. You will need the following tools and equipment: Glass cutter cutting oil grozing pliers 12 inch cutting square lead knife wire brush horseshoe nails straight edge safety glasses Available from Kansacraft or Creative Glass During the course there will be additional costs depending on what projects you have undertaken, and the costs of these materials can be discussed with the tutor Your tutor will advise you what to buy after the first session, so you don’t spend more than needed • There is no storage available for learners, kit will need to be taken home each week. Work in progress will be stored on boards and must be taken at the end of the course
