Description
This is a level 2C Art Specialism course for those who have attended Calligraphy previously or who have drawing and painting experience.
The mixed media course focuses on enhancing students' confidence and creativity by engaging them in diverse subjects and themes, both personal and assigned, while utilising various art mediums and three-dimensional techniques. Through exploring contextual materials, including the works of artists and makers, learners will be inspired to expand their ideas and artistic creations, fostering a comprehensive understanding of mixed media art.
This is an Art Specialism course level 2C, upon completing this course, learners can progress onto Level non-funded Art & Design options but cannot redo this course at the same level or book onto lower-level courses or go back to Drawing & Painting courses. Learners can book onto any other Art specialism or Creative & Culture courses from 1A upwards that is new to them with Medway Adult Education.

WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THIS COURSE?
Learners will:
1. Develop 3D working skills on at least 1 project.
2. Develop drawing and painting (2D) skills to create at least one piece of work.
3. Develop and produce at least one complete project.
All learners will be expected to maintain both a sketchbook of their ideas and inspirations
and a portfolio of their work produced while on course.
EXHIBITION OPPORTUNITIES: There are opportunities to exhibit your work
throughout the year at both our Rochester Centre and other local venues.

IS THIS COURSE SUITABLE FOR ME?
This course is aimed at learners who:
Already have basic or intermediate art / mixed media skills
Have done a mixed media course from 1A 2B or a drawing/painting course up to level 2C or have similar experience
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS COURSE?
This course is mainly practical, but some sessions will include important theory and professional topics. These may include:
Health and Safety (H&S)
Risk assessments
Public liability
WILL THERE BE ADDITIONAL COSTS?
Learners will need the following tools and equipment please do not purchase until you are sure the course will run:
PLEASE BRING TO THE FIRST SESSION:
Basic drawing equipment of your own choice (at least one HB pencil & a rubber) You will be provided with a basic sketch book.
You tutor can guide you on materials and tools as the course progresses.
You will need to provide your own materials for most activities, though easels and drawing boards will be provided at no additional cost. Various types of paper can be purchased from the tutor (subject to availability) for a minimal fee. If you dont have any of the materials listed above, wait until you have spoken to the tutor before making purchases as the project will be discussed in the first lesson.
