Description
This is a level 1B course for learners who may have attended Lavel 1A or who are new to glass painting and Basic Glass Fusing
Join our glass painting and basic glass fusing course led by a professional tutor in a fully equipped studio, where you'll learn traditional techniques, such as cutting, painting, fusing and slumping as well as leading, soldering, fusing, and designing, enabling you to create stunning, personalised glass artworks perfect for your home or as thoughtful gifts.
Throughout the course, you'll develop your skills in the heritage craft by making attractive pieces and matching colours to produce unique designs, with opportunities to showcase your work at our Rochester centre gallery, providing valuable exposure and recognition for your craftsmanship

What Will I Learn On This Course?
Learners will:
1. Cut glass and add paint to at least 3 elements of a basic design.
2. Demonstrate how to fuse and slump glass to a given shape
3. Produce at least one finished area of a piece of glass work

Is This Course Suitable For Me?
This is a level 1B course for learners who may have attended Lavel 1A or who are new to glass painting and Basic Glass Fusing
Upon completing this course, learners can progress onto Level 1C glass painting and basic glass fusing
courses but cannot redo this course at the same level or book onto lower-level courses. Learners can book onto any other Creative & Culture course from 1A upwards.
Is There Anything Else I Need To Know About This Course?
Please be aware that whilst this course is practical in nature some sessions will include theory and professional related training such as H&S, risk assessments, public liability etc
Learners will need the following tools and equipment please do not purchase until you are sure the course will run:
• The first lesson is glass cutting please bring a 20cm (12”) square of clear glass, 3mm thick.
• a pen and notepad
Will There Be Additional Costs?
Your tutor will speak to you about materials and tools in the first class.
Please do not purchase tools / equipment from the list below until you have spoken with your tutor.
You will be required to purchase your own glass and paints etc. Materials for the first project cost approximately £25.
You will need the following tools and equipment:
Glass cutter
cutting oil
grozing pliers
12 inch cutting square
lead knife
wire brush
horseshoe nails
straight edge
safety glasses
Available from Kansacraft or Creative Glass
During the course there will be additional costs depending on what projects you have undertaken, and the costs of these materials can be discussed with the tutor.
What Could I Go On To Do After This Course?
Upon completing this course, learners can progress onto Level 1B glass painting and basic glass fusing
courses but cannot redo this course at the same level or book onto lower-level courses. Learners can book onto any other Creative & Culture course from 1A upwards.

What Is The Attendance Policy?
Multiple sessions-
To get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed
