Description
This hand embroidery course offers an excellent opportunity to experiment with and develop skills in various embroidery stitches, each creating unique textures and effects.
Learners will explore the common stitches including the running stitch, used for basic outlines; the backstitch, ideal for outlining; the satin stitch, which produces smooth, filled areas; the French knot for added texture; and the chain stitch, creating a decorative line. Other stitches will be introduced like the lazy daisy, herringbone, and split stitch to further diversify your embroidery skills and techniques. Practicing embroidery enhances your precision, patience, and creativity, allowing you to craft intricate or bold designs and explore different styles and textures.

What Will I Learn On This Course?
Learners will:
1. Experiment with at least 3 common hand embroidery stitches
2. Develop skills in at least 1 more complex hand embroidery stitch
3. Apply at least 2 different hand embroidery stitches to a sampler or project piece

Please be aware that whilst this course is practical in nature some sessions will include theory and professional related training such as H&S, risk assessments, public liability etc
Learners will need the following tools and equipment please do not purchase until you are sure the course will run:

Calico scraps
Small sewing scissors
Heat erasable pen
Embroidery/Crewel Hand Sewing Needles Size 5-10
5” embroidery hoop

What Is The Attendance Policy?
Multiple sessions-
To get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed
