Description
This year long BTEC vocational course offers an engaging introduction to various art disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and three-dimensional work.
Classes take place over two days (Thursday and Friday) at our Rochester centre and learners must be available to attend both sessions.
Learners will work in inspiring art studios, focus on projects to enhance their portfolios, and develop both technical skills and transferable abilities necessary for further education and employment. The course fosters confidence and independence in art practice, encouraging learners to take responsibility for their creative directions while adding a robust set of skills to support their artistic journeys.

What Will I Learn On This Course?
1. Submit 2 units which meet the 5 learning objectives as set out by the BTEC level
2. Attend regularly and punctually
3. Follow MAEs priorities of reduce, reuse recycle to support the Medway Council’s climate change agenda

Is This Course Suitable For Me?
• This course is only for learners aged 19+
• Before you enrol, you must book and complete an initial assessment with our information, advice and guidance team.
Suitable for learners who wish to build a portfolio or to formalise their skills in preparation for further study or employment.
Is There Anything Else I Need To Know About This Course?
Please be aware that whilst this course is practical in nature some sessions will include theory and professional related training such as H&S, risk assessments, public liability etc
GRADING
The Pearson BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Art and Design Skills is graded P to D.
Each learning and teaching module defines the range of content that learners will cover. The assessment evidence produced is presented and assessed against assessment units. Assessment units are each assessed against five criteria, which are graded on a scale of Distinction, Merit, Pass and Unclassified
To be awarded a qualification, learners must achieve a minimum of Pass in all assessment criteria in each assessment unit.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You will be assessed through a range of unit assignments which will go toward your overall grade at the end of the course.
Will There Be Additional Costs?
You will need various resources depending on your final projects. The course fee does include a starter pack of basic equipment which you can build on.

What Is The Attendance Policy?
Multiple sessions-
To get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 90%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend, please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed
